SAS Paper Prize
The Society for Anthropological Sciences announces a new competition for the Anthropological Sciences Student Award. The award will be given annually in recognition of the best graduate and undergraduate student paper. Each winner is awarded $250 and the opportunity to present the paper during the business meeting of the society at the American Anthropological Association annual meetings.
Papers will be judged on their use of the scientific method to further anthropological insight. All subfields and specializations within anthropology are welcome. Papers should have a clear research question that is addressed through the use of systematically collected and analyzed data, be it qualitative, quantitative, or both. Multiple authored papers are welcome as long as all authors are enrolled in a graduate program at the time of submission. Papers must not exceed 6000 words and must follow the style guidelines of the American Anthropologist. Interested graduate students should submit their paper in English in a Word, WordPerfect, pdf or rtf format as an email attachment to the Anthropological Sciences Student Award Committee.
The committee will review the submissions and recommend an award to the SAS board. The committee may recommend both an undergraduate and a graduate student award, or no award in any year as they see fit.
