CSAS Scholarship Funds and Paper Prize
The Central States Anthropological Society periodically confers two scholarships, the Leslie A. White and the Beth Wilder Dillingham Award.
The Leslie A. White Award was established in 1983 in honor of White's contributions to the CSAS and to anthropology by assisting graduate or undergraduate students in any subfield of anthropology with research expenses.
The Beth Wilder Dillingham Award was established in 1989 to honor Dillingham's commitment to the CSAS and the discipline and her special interest in assisting graduate or undergraduate students in any subfield of anthropology who are responsible for the care of one or more children.
Award amounts may be up to $1000 each year.
The CSAS also periodically awards prizes for best undergraduate and best graduate student paper presented at the annual meeting. The prize in each category is $300 and papers in any area of anthropology are eligible.
Entries should be potentially publishable although papers that require some editing or rewriting may be chosen for the prize. The writing should aim for the style, format, and quality of the major anthropological journals, and the research should be presented in the context of ongoing anthropological issues.
