As an introduction to the September AN issue on the anthropology student experience, we are proud to feature four videos by Michael Wesch, posted weekly on the AN blog throughout August. The videos examine students' changing educational expectations and experiences in today's digital world.
The most recent installment of this series is the video "Twitter and World Simulation," which introduces viewers to a specific example of one course designed using tools and pedagogical concepts discussed in Wesch's previous videos. The World Simulation Project, "a radical experiment in learning that is the centerpiece of the Introduction to Cultural Anthropology course at Kansas State University," was designed to promote critical thinking among students and to actively engage students in their own learning process.
Visit the AN blog to view the video and see Wesch's website for more information. For an in-depth discussion of the project and the technologies it incorporates, see the final 20 minutes of "A Portal to Media Literacy" (posted on the AN blog 8/11/08).
